Indigenous Australian Government Development Programme

♪ Opening Music ♪ LauchyPrior to IAGDP what attracted me was that I was ready for a change within my life personally. I’d spent 10 years – a bit more – as a tradesman and I was working for myself as a plasterer. I just came to the point where I realised that that wasn’t where my life was meant to end and that I wanted to seek further education in the sense to progress further into a career that could be a lot more interesting and further for development of myself. To apply for the IAGDP wasn’t actually that difficult because I’d never actually written a proper application before and it allowed me to express myself as a person as opposed to being cleverly literate in writing a job application. The application process was good, by far one of the best interviews I had, just a nice friendly environment and nothing to really be afraid of. During the program I found that I discovered a better sense of who I was personally, so I feel it’s made me a bigger and better person within myself. You never, ever stop learning when you get here, you just keep on learning about things you didn’t know and your – your mind’s constantly being stimulated which is good. Things I found challenging was just coming out of my comfort zone and just getting comfortable with the new working environment that I’d been exposed to. You’re made to succeed. Like, it’s built for success. So afterwards, now that I’ve finished, I find that I want to keep further developing myself. The advice I can give is just to be honest with yourself and don’t think you’re not good enough to, to, to achieve the goal of, of completing the program, just take every day as it comes and set yourself that goal to achieve a diploma to begin with and you’ll make your future from there. ♪ Background Music Playing ♪ If any part of this program interests you, seriously just go for it. Just get out of your comfort zone because the possibilities are like open for you and then the only challenge is taking that first step. If you want more information about the program and, and how you can further develop and where it can take you, just pop online and check out the website, and all the information’s there and it’s quite easy to be successful. ♪ Closing Music ♪
