♫ upbeat music ♫ We’re here today because it’s Ontario Disability Employment Month and this Tim Hortons employs a lot of people with disabilities. The Ontario Disability Employment Network is doing a number of things throughout Ontario to help support and promote Disability Employment Awareness Month. For instance, this is one of the events that we’re doing which is a cash mob. We’re trying to raise awareness for inclusive employers, so people who hire people who have disabilities to work in their workplace. It’s awesome. We just love it and we’re also a bit selfish because we get the best people in this program. It’s amazing. It’s great to know we live in a community where people are honouring those with disabilities. I think it’s just amazing that you guys are
doing it for them. It’s a great idea I think it’s awesome, I think that more companies should follow suit Well, events like this really bring awareness to the issue that people with disabilities
really make great employees. They really help businesses improve their bottom line. And part of this is all about awareness building. Letting other businesses in town know that the number of people with disabilities in the community is large and that by engaging them in the
workforce you build a stronger business and a stronger community. It’s given me more long term employees. My turnover rate has lowered. We have less call-ins, less sick time. We have a lot more loyalty in the business too and that just builds customer awareness and customer loyalty. We have a number of these cash mobs that are taking place all across the province as well as a number of other events such as employer awareness breakfasts that are taking place. Employers need to realize that it’s a business decision. If they want to be successful they need to consider hiring somebody with a disability. What you end up with is really an employee who is generally dedicated and loyal and is very good at the specific skill that you’re looking for. The first thing I’ll tell you is you will be amazed at the benefits that your business gets as a result of doing this. Just do it, you won’t regret it. This is not a benevolent gesture, this is good business. Do it for your bottom line. Hashtag #DEAM!
