The Guidance, Employment and Training program at IECD establishes new Guidance and Employment offices in 10 public technical schools. It’s common that a student comes from academic school to technical education without really knowing details about which specialization to choose The Guidance and Employment office has a dual role First, it guides the students towards the specializations demanded in the labor market Second, it builds connections with external stakeholders: hospitals, schools, institutions, companies…etc to source job opportunities for fresh graduates, in the tough Lebanese economic situation. This office is an added value to our institution, and it helps us develop ourselves. If I didn’t have hope, I wouldn’t have supported it and worked to make it happen. The director wanted to have this office in our school to grant our students this valuable experience by having such office She asked IECD to set up this office in our school. The office was recently created this year. It was fully renovated and furnished with all the necessary material useful to do our job. At the same time, it makes sure that the student coming to get information, will be able to be in a comfortable space for the student to be able to express freely about what his/her preferences, so we can help him/her. for the student to be at ease, and to express himself freely and say whether he is happy or not with his specialization. And regarding the job opportunities for graduates Graduates can come anytime to the office too. Some coming students might have some difficulties and don’t want anyone to know about them. They can talk freely here so we can help them to make decisions. He/she must be psychologically at ease to be able to communicate and answer your questions At ease emotionally and physically to express his/her thoughts. Now the office is ready to accomplish its mission among students and companies The number of Guidance and Employment offices reached 23 in technical schools, both public and private, spread all over the Lebanese territory.
